2 April 2013

Long-time Daily Quoters would know that I am an avid comic-book fan. I am also a law student, and as such, have a keen interest in all things law-related.
It is no surprise, then, that today's link is such a guilty pleasure of mine.

Today's Daily Quota is a link to the popular blog-turned-website-turned-book-turned-phenomenon Law and the Multiverse.
It's basically about applying real-world law to the fictional multiverse of the DC and Marvel comics.
They even delve into comic book movies, like who would pay for all the destruction to public infrastructure while The Avengers were saving the world and a deep analysis of the corporate law governing Bruce's embezzlement and insolvency in Nolan's Dark Knight Rises

The one huge downfall to this website is that it is based entirely on US law - so a lot of the cases and statute they refer to would be new to Australian law enthusiasts. It's still fun, however, to learn about Batman's liability when he attracted a swarm of bats in Batman: Year One or the implications of mind-control powers and consent in sexual assault
They even discuss Aquaman's citizenship and whether Superman's flight path may breach international aviation laws.

Set up an RSS feed, or just have a quick browse. Search your favourite comic character and see a wealth of pretentious discussion.
Loads of fun!
