1 March 2013

A rainy, quiet night in - perfect for a segment of Filosophy Fridays.
Today's Daily Quota I was saving for a rainy day - not only because I am incredibly strapped for time today, but also because it's a webpage I return to time and time again for small snippets of amusing wisdom.
I think today is that rainy day.
Today's Daily Quota is a list of 'Good Quotations by Famous People' by University of Virginia Computer Sciences scholar Dr. Gabriel Robins.
Now most of these 'good quotes' are from either writers or philosophers - because let's face it, it's their job.

Here are some of my favourites, which I've employed time and time again:

"The fundamental cause of trouble in the world is that the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt."
- Bertrand Russell (1872-1970)

"Don't be so humble - you are not that great."
- Golda Meir (1898-1978) to a visiting diplomat

"Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity."
- Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968)

"A mathematician is a device for turning coffee into theorems."
- Paul Erdos (1913-1996)

"A narcissist is someone better looking than you are."
- Gore Vidal

"If women didn't exist, all the money in the world would have no meaning."
- Aristotle Onassis (1906-1975)

Oh, so many to choose from!
Find your favourites and employ them liberally in every day conversation. People will think you something that you are not, and isn't that what makes us happy?
